Mount Rinjani Summit Trek 3-Day (Via Senaru - Sembalun Route)

4.5 (booked)

Details

Embark on an unforgettable 3-day, 2-night Mount Rinjani Summit Trek starting from the lush rainforest of Senaru and ending in the wide open savannahs of Sembalun. This route is a popular choice for fit and experienced trekkers seeking both adventure and breathtaking views of one of Indonesia’s most iconic volcanoes.

Your journey begins in Senaru Village (600m), trekking through dense tropical rainforest until you reach the dramatic Senaru Crater Rim (2,641m), where you'll set up camp for your first night. Here, you'll be treated to one of the best panoramic views on the island—sunset over Mount Agung in Bali and the majestic Segara Anak Lake below.

On Day 2, descend into the caldera to reach the shimmering Segara Anak Lake and soak in the nearby natural hot springs—a rewarding experience after a steep descent. You’ll then continue climbing to Sembalun Crater Rim (2,639m) where you'll spend your second night under the stars, surrounded by the rugged beauty of the volcano.

The final day is the most challenging yet most rewarding. Begin the summit push at 2 a.m. under a blanket of stars, making your way up steep, gravelly terrain to reach Mount Rinjani’s summit (3,726m) by sunrise. From the top, enjoy incredible 360° views over Lombok, the Gili Islands, Bali, and even Sumbawa. After capturing the moment, descend back through Sembalun’s savannah landscape to the village at 1,100m where your adventure ends.

This trek offers the perfect balance between scenic beauty, physical challenge, and immersive nature. You’ll also get the chance to visit the famous Sindang Gile and Tiu Kelep Waterfalls the day before your trek, included as a bonus. Whether you’re an experienced trekker or just looking to push your limits, this Rinjani route is a true bucket list experience.
